MORE THAN 150 THOUSAND PEOPLE PARTICIPATE IN THE FESTIVAL OF THE VIETNAM – KOREA FESTIVAL CULTURAL ROAD

Many cultural, culinary, and artistic activities took place at the “Vietnam-Korea Friendship Cultural Road” festival, attracting more than 150 thousand visitors during the two days of organization.

The festival takes place on Tran Van Lai Street, My Dinh Urban Area (Hanoi), a place known as “Korean Street” and “Korean Village,” for two days on December 10–11, 2022. Male singer Byun Jin Sub, introduced as once dominating the Korean music industry, stirred up the music night. In 1988, Byun Jin Sub released his first album titled “Being Alone,” which sold 1.8 million copies, becoming the first “million-copy” album in Korea. Recently, he sang a song in the TV series familiar to Vietnamese people, “Reply 1988”. The male singer is known as one of the top ballad singers and is loved by many Koreans.

In addition to Byun Jin Sub, the festival also saw the participation of two very popular Vietnamese singers, Suni Ha Linh and Trinh Thang Binh. Artists from the music groups Chuncheon Nongak, Hanaesori, etc. performed the traditional Korean drum dance art of Samulnori.

In addition to the art program, Vietnamese-Korean cuisine booths, K-culture experience booths (Korean culture), and booths promoting Korean businesses and agencies attract tourists. The space decorated with Hoi An lanterns and traditional Korean Cheongsa Chorong lanterns along the road, makes the festival even more sparkling.

Ms. Chang Eun Sook, President of the Korean Association in Hanoi – representative of the Festival Organizing Committee said: “We want to make this event an annual event. We want to turn this Vietnam-Korea cultural friendship road into a tourist destination for both Korean and Vietnamese tourists, especially young people, and we hope the people of the two countries will have the opportunity to exchange. Cultures, connecting friendships through cultural activities”.

Deputy Director of HoaBinh Group – event organizer Jackie Han shared: “The “Vietnam-Korea Friendship Cultural Road” Festival is an activity to tighten the friendship and harmony between the people of the two countries. on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Korea. This is the first walking street event held in a new location with the desire to become a symbol of the Korean neighborhood in Hanoi.”

Initially, the organizing committee expected the festival to welcome about 20,000 visitors. However, the number far exceeded expectations, up to 150 thousand participants, showing the strong spread of Vietnamese-Korean culture.
